July Friendships
This month's theme is “July Friendships”, and the color of the month is “Canary Yellow”, #FFEF00!
Our participants are encouraged to incorporate our monthly themes and colors within their artistic expression.
Last Month: “Be You in June”
---Participants enjoyed the theme of “water” in the Art and Wellness session, exploring movement and emotions
---Staff attended NAMI Con online, a conference centered in the needs of the mental health community
---The workshop with Toni Best was a great success. Participants weaved their own gourds using special techniques demonstrated by Toni Best.
---Crisis Intervention Training, Tulare county police officers heard a presentation by My Voice Media Center staff and the No Stigma Speaker’s Bureau. The officers went on a tour of MVMC.
---The participants and staff enjoy a relaxing day at the Shinzen Gardens in Fresno, CA. Plein air watercolor painting and photography were the highlights of this field trip.

---July is Social Wellness Month, Bebe Moore Campbell Social Minority Mental Health Month, and July 24th is International Self-Care Day. We explore friendship as a tool for being social, celebrating minority mental health, and self-care!

---The NEW! “Art and Movement” session is 2 PM - 3 PM, Fridays at Arts Consortium’s My Voice Media Center.
---Participant Appreciation Day is Friday, July 21st - from 10-12PM.
The My Voice Media Center (MVMC) is made possible through a partnership between the Arts Consortium and the Tulare County Health and Human Services Mental Health branch.
We offer Photography, Printmaking, Video Editing, Photo Editing, Drawing, Painting, Guitar, 2D and 3D Art, NSSB (No Stigma Speakers Bureau), Peer Support, and other activities.

The My Voice Media Center serves adults from throughout Tulare County who have first-hand experiences with mental health struggles and those who provide support for the same.
We believe that self-expression through various mediums of art can help our community members thrive on their path of wellness and recovery. The My Voice Media Center aims to reduce the stigma of mental illness.

We provide a safe and welcoming environment where participants may explore their own artistic style
We provide opportunities for our participants to learn from professional artists on and off-site
We provide exhibition and art sale opportunities for interested participants
We provide opportunities for our participants to take part in presentations that help educate our community at large about mental wellness and recovery
We collaborate with local organizations to promote and advocate for mental health services
We provide opportunities for our participants to visit other arts and culture centers

Our program hours are 10 am to 3 pm from Tuesday to Friday.
